Overview:
This training will provide a basic understanding of sand tray history and theory as a play therapy
technique. We will explore how healing manifests itself in a sand tray. Method and case presentations
of play therapy sessions will be followed by an opportunity for participants to experience creating their
own sand tray.

Learning Objectives:
1. Understand the history and theory of using sand trays in play therapy
2. Learn how to set up and conduct sand tray therapy as part of a play therapy session
3. Identify common themes in the sand tray process

The Presenter:
Pam Dyson, MA, LPC, is a child development expert, parenting coach, licensed professional counselor
and nationally certified counselor who specializes in play therapy at her private practice in Ballwin,
Missouri. She’s an adjunct professor at Lindenwood University, serves as a mental health consultant
to early childhood professionals and facilitates workshops at conferences throughout the Midwest.
Pam is the founder and director of the St. Louis Center for Play Therapy Training.
